An entire walkthrough of the God of War Ragnarok Return of the River
Favours and side missions abound in God of War Ragnarok’s Vanaheim Realm, and one such favour may be found in the jungle: the return of the river god of war. It’s a major optional quest that allows you to access new regions. However, you must finish the return of the river god of war before you may go on to the other favours in the Crater of Vanaheim, including The Burning Skies.
- In God of War: Ragnarok, returning the river is a prerequisite to completing any favours in Vanaheim’s Crater.
- At night, go to the Western Plains Gateway and, once there, locate a cave where a barrier has been placed.
- If you go into the cave, you’ll find a forest on the other side. It is the beginning of the return of the river god of war.
- As the journey develops, you’ll eventually reach a spot with a water wheel obscured by ivy.
- Burn the vines away with an explosion from three Blades of Chaos and three Runic Arrows. To go forward, please crank the water wheel.
- The river will start flowing again, marking the successful conclusion of the return of the River quest.
How to Begin the River’s Favorite’s Triumphant Return
Get to the Western Plains Gateway in Vanaheim’s crater area to kick off the return of the river god of war. You’ll need to return to the forest from the crater to collect on that favour. Also, it would help if you waited until nightfall at Vanaheim. To make it nighttime, go to the temple next to the Western Plains entrance.
Return of the River in God of War’s Ragnarok
Proceed onward and leap from the cliff at the Western Plains portal. Proceed straight till you reach the shown location. To go to your final destination from here, turn right.
The Opening to the Cave
If you turn right and continue straight, you’ll reach the cliff face seen in the picture above, with a cave entrance. You’re expected to continue your journey inside the cave. Following the trail that branches off to the right may find the cave entrance. You can also expect to encounter and defeat some hostiles along the road.
Where the Trail Is Located on the Map
From this vantage point, you can see the cave’s mouth. The route to the cave may be accessed from here as well. Just show up wherever that picture is from if you need help.
Locating the Route
Once inside the cave, continue down the trail until you reach the end. You’ll have to do some climbing in the meanwhile. But when you finish, there’s nowhere else to go. However, a wooden obstruction will be in the last room’s left wall. The way to the jungle may be cleared with the help of your Leviathan Axe.
Initiation of Favour
The forest awaits at the trail’s finish. Turn right at that intersection, and you’ll soon encounter a massive dam. At this time, you’ll also benefit from the return of the river god of war ragnarok. The dam is where you must be to finish the favour.
God of War Ragnarok’s Return of the River favour starts in the abovementioned place. So, if you are lost in the forest, the spot shown in the picture above is where you want to be. Last but not least, you’ll find a lift on the route to the dam. In the game, that will transport you to the highest point of the dam.
Methods for Resolving the River’s Favour
When you take the lift to the top of the dam, a large group of adversaries will await you. These foes are easy pickings for your Blades of Chaos, and you should be able to dispatch them quickly. After clearing all the bad guys, go to the dam’s upper observation deck.
On the right side, you’ll see several wooden boxes. If you smash those boxes, you’ll find a sign pointing toward the Draupnir Spear. If you want to go through the wall, you can use the Draupnir Spear. If you can breach the wall, you can go around the dam. Finally, you may release the river’s flow and send it back to Vanaheim by opening the dam.
Signed with an Arrow
You’ll find a wheel that has to be turned on the far side of the dam. However, the wheel is stuck, and the vines have wrapped themselves around the chains. Therefore, Freya’s symbol arrows are required for burning the vines. First, follow the pattern of the arrows in the symbol shown above. Then, set fire to the vines with Kratos’ Chaos Blades.
Spinning The Tyres
Now that the vines have been destroyed, the dam may be opened further by turning the wheel. That will cause the river to once again flow towards Vanaheim’s Jungle and Crater. Previously inaccessible regions of the game are now open for exploration.
Finishing Up a Favour
Once the wheel has been turned, cross back over to the other side of the dam. After the little scenario concludes, you’ll get the favour done! Prompt. Kratos and Freya’s XP may be used to unlock new Skills and higher levels in Runic Attacks.
