Elden Ring: Sword Of Night And Flame Build Guide

Elden Ring: Sword Of Night And Flame Build Guide

In Sword of Night and Flame, Elden Ring holds high power that can be managed effectively with the right build. This Straight Sword is particularly massive for its distinctive Night-And-Flame-Stance, a Skill that can apply to heavy damage on individual foes and larger groups. As a result, the Sword of Night and Flame Elden Ring are considered one of the strongest weapons.

This guide will provide you with a recommended sword of night and flame build that can help you unleash the immense power of the sword and make the most of the advantages it demands from you.

Acquiring and Upgrading

To wield the Sword of Night and Flame, you must meet the stat requirements of 12 Dexterity, 12 Strength, 24 Faith, and 24 Intelligence.

It is important to note that regular Smithing Stones cannot be used to upgrade the Sword of Night and Flame. Only Somber Smithing Stones can be used for its upgrades. The initial Stat Scalings of this weapon are Strength E, Intelligence D, Dexterity E, and Faith D. These will be enhanced to Strength D, Intelligence B, Dexterity D, and Faith B, when the weapon is fully upgraded to its maximum of +10.

Flame And Night Stance

To effectively build this weapon, it is crucial to fully comprehend its unique skill’s mechanics. The skill can be activated by pressing L2, which consumes 0FP and puts you in a particular stance that offers two options. Firstly, you can opt for an R1 Light Attack that launches a Night Comet of Magic damage, which costs 26FP and matches with Intelligence. Secondly, you can choose an R2 Heavy Attack that unleashes a Fire damage attack over a wider area, albeit with a shorter range, for 32FP that matches Faith.

Dual Caster Build

The Sword of Night and Flame’s stat requirements can significantly limit your build options. Investing points in Faith and Intelligence is uncommon for most builds, which usually focus on one or the other. Additionally, if you plan on using spells, you’ll need enough Mind to have enough FP to utilize Night And Flame-Stance repeatedly. To fully optimize this weapon and build, it’s recommended to be at least level 60, with higher levels being even better.

As this weapon’s requirements lean towards casters, this build centers around Sorceries with dual Faith and Intelligence requirements, such as Death and Magma. These schools have some impressive spells, some of which have been buffed in recent patches to require less FP or have improved mechanics.

Ancient Death Rancor, for death,  is a potent multi-hit spell that inflicts great stagger damage to enemies. When added with the Night Comet, this can stun-lock and defeat many bosses. Explosive Ghostflame applies Frostbite and knockback but requires 30 Fai and 42 Int. This spell can be especially effective in PVP. Most other Death spells are less useful and should be avoided.

Magma Shot is a dependable Magma spell, but its true potential is unleashed when charged. Rancor of Rykard is the most effective Magma Sorcery, dealing multiple hits along its trajectory and significant damage to fire-vulnerable and large enemies. However, it requires 40 Int to use.
